Culture/ Art tells more than just a story

For us, culture is much more than entertainment. It is a way for artists to share their story, voice, vision and opinion with the world.

A painting, film, book, piece of music, theatre production, board game or other art form may, at first glance, simply seem relaxing or entertaining. However, there is often much more to it than that.

What stories are being told? Who is given a voice? Which characters are chosen? Who is represented and who is missing? What themes are highlighted?

All these choices can reveal something about the society in which we live.

To watcg a film, for example, may be purely entertaining. However, the story, the characters, the way in which certain groups are portrayed and even the choice of cast can have a much greater significance. Sometimes a film reflects social changes. Sometimes it challenges existing norms. Sometimes it gives a voice to people who were previously barely visible.

Art as a bridge

Culture also has a special power: it can bring people together. People who do not know one another can be moved by the same song, the same film, the same book or the same performance. An artist can translate an experience into something that others can feel, understand or recognise. In this way, art can open doors to conversations that might otherwise never take place.

At present, our focus is primarily on discussions and reviews of films and other cultural productions.

Culture as a mirror of society

Culture can make us laugh, move us, amaze us or allow us to escape from everyday reality.

But culture can also confront us. Hold up a mirror. Raise questions. It can spark discussions. Break down prejudices. And allow us to see the world from someone else's perspective.

That is why we want not only to showcase culture, but also to discuss and contextualise it.

Through interviews, articles, reviews, reports and conversations, we aim to highlight the stories behind cultural creations and the ideas hidden within them.

Because sometimes social change begins with a story.

A story that touches someone.
A character in whom someone recognises themselves.
A work of art that brings a forgotten perspective to light.
A song that puts into words a feeling for which someone couldn't find the words themselves.
Or a film that leaves you looking at the world through different eyes.

That is the power of culture.
