Giving a voice to those who are often overlooked

Through the journalism section of Esmeralda Wolf Connection vzw, we aim to create a space for stories, experiences and social issues that do not always receive the attention they deserve.

We want to offer our members the opportunity to write and publish articles themselves. In this way, we aim not only to open up discussion on social issues, but also to give people the chance to develop and share their voices, perspectives and talents.

Our journalistic work is rooted in a clear commitment to social engagement. We want to write about issues that contribute to a more supportive, inclusive and just society.

In doing so, we aim to focus on, amongst other things:

  • discrimination: bringing every form of exclusion and unequal treatment into the open.

  • equal opportunities: including for people with disabilities and those living in poverty who face barriers to participating fully in society;

  • inclusion and accessibility: calling for a society in which everyone can truly participate;

  • diversity: making space for different backgrounds, experiences, perspectives and talents;

  • giving a voice to the 'voiceless': sharing the stories of people and groups who are often forgotten, marginalised or not heard sufficiently;

  • combating misogyny: highlighting gender-related injustice, discrimination and misogyny;

  • democracy: the importance of freedom of expression, engagement, dialogue, critical thinking and a society in which diverse voices can be heard.

Not just writing about people, but letting people write

A key part of our work is actively involving our members and volunteers in this journalistic aspect. We want to offer people who might struggle to find a place elsewhere the opportunity valorise their writing talent, experiences, interests and social engagement.

You don't necessarily have to be a professional journalist. Perhaps you're simply someone with a story to tell. Someone who is curious about something. Someone who views a social issue from a different perspective. Or someone who has always wanted to write but never had the chance.

At Esmeralda Wolf Connection vzw, we want to create that space.

We want to support members and volunteers where necessary and work together on articles that are substantively strong, respectful and socially relevant.

Independent and committed

Our journalistic work aims to be independent and non-partisan. That does not mean we are not allowed to take a stand on social issues.

On the contrary. We want to be able to stand up clearly for equal opportunities, inclusion, diversity, human dignity and democratic values.

At the same time, we want to leave room for different experiences and perspectives and encourage our readers to think critically for themselves. Our journalism does not seek to divide for the sake of division. It aims to inform, raise awareness, connect people and amplify voices.

A platform for stories

Through Esmeralda Wolf Connection vzw, we want to create a platform where these stories can find a home.

A space for members and volunteers who want to write. A space for people who want to share their experiences. A space for social issues that deserve more attention. And a space where readers can discover new perspectives. Because we believe that change often begins with something simple:

someone speaking out and someone else willing to listen.

Everyone has a story.

Everyone deserves to be heard.
Every voice can set something in motion.
